Made in America is more than a slogan. For some, it’s a movement about American innovation and an opportunity for all of us to understand the value of U.S.manufacturing. It’s our continuing ability to create jobs, strengthen our economy and become globally competitive. Manufacturing is the integral part of our growing economy and we have to make it a priority. Now’s the time for everyone step up show how we stand behind manufacturing here in the United States. Let’s tell the story about manufacturing success, let’s show everyone how great U.S. manufacturing can be, and let’s bring it back to its glory days.
Last year, we launched the Make it in America Campaign with the purpose to highlight the importance of U.S manufacturing and showcase the contributions of manufacturers across the MEP system. A critical facet of the campaign is the “Featured Manufacturer of the Week”. Every week we feature a MEP manufacturer “Making it in America.” These manufacturers from around the country are working with their MEP system developing innovative products, reaching new markets and hiring America’s best workforce. Since then, we’ve proudly highlighted 37 MEP clients and this is just the beginning.
Today, in honor of Manufacturing Day and the effort to educate and celebrate American manufacturing, NIST MEP is proud to announce the Make it In America Exhibit. The exhibit provides a glimpse into the variety of innovative products made by MEP clients from around the country. Each product displayed shows the dedication, quality and ingenuity one expects from American manufacturers. More than 150 different U.S. manufacturers who have been helped by our MEP system are showcased in the exhibit. From parking meters to surf paddles, to digital detectors that scan for mammograms, there’s a large variety of products that illustrate the diversity and creativity of U.S. Manufacturing. The exhibit is an excellent representation of what it means to Make it in America, captures the movement of Making it in America and shows our support for Manufacturing in America.
The Make it in America Exhibit is located at the National Institute of Standards and Technology in Gaithersburg, MD. You can visit the Make it in America Exhibit Page for more information about the exhibit or to see a list of the U.S. Manufacturers that participated in the Make it in America Exhibit.
